Implications of Moving The Needle on First-time Full-time Student Enrollment

Moving The Needle affects first-time full-time retention in the following ways:

  • 100% of MTN institutions experience increases in their annual student retention for at least the first 5 years of MTN.
  • Retention increased on 100% of campuses, regardless of the institution’s starting retention.
  • Over 5 years, average retention increased almost 7 percentage points. 
  • An institution's size has only minimal impact on improvements in retention over 5 years with:
    • Smaller schools’ FTFT retention increased 6.2% points.
    • Larger schools’ FTFT retention increased 5.6% points.
